err Day 3
The 8th Jan! I've been a bit under the weather, Didn't join my Biblical Hebrew class on the 4th, didn't drive myself to work on the 5th, didn't even go in on the 6th. Not done very much at all this weekend, even with the younger set of grandchildren here.
It's a good thing no-one is reading this, and following my 'plan'.
One of the nice things about the 15 minute reading plan is it doesn't take 356 days, there is some slack, well 4 days slack to be precise, so I may have to up it by a chapter a day, until I'm back on course, or I could swap to 20 minutes a day for a while.

Reading for 20 minutes a day, it only takes 257 days.

So day three is Genesis 8 to 11 (as opposed to Genesis 26 and 27, which is where I would be if I'd reading every day from 1st Jan.)  King James Version

OK day 2
Yes I know it's the 3rd of Jan, but by the time I'd written day 1 it was the already the second of Jan!
So yesterday I read Genesis 1 to 3, today it's Genesis 4 to 7, and here's a handy link again.
Here's a link to Bible Gateway, where you can choose from over 150 translations, in many different languages, this link is for the New International Version and this for the King James Version.

I once added up all the ages, and Methuselah died in the year of the flood.

But the thing that surprises me most, and this might surprise you, is that it talks about clean and unclean animals, yet God doesn't appear to define clean and unclean until after the Hebrews leave the land of Egypt.
I've read that maybe it just wasn't recorded until then, but that Noah did know the difference. That seems really odd to me, especially as it is not until after the flood that God says mankind can eat meat. The clean, unclean thing is (primarily?) about what can be eaten, so what distinction would God have made for vegans?
It often seems as if people think Noah went out to get all the animals, but God didn't tell hem to get any, just 'take them' with him, God brought the animals to him. So Noah probably just wondered why he had 14 of some animals and only four of others. Yes four not two, as it says Gen 7v2 says "You shall take with you seven each of every clean animal, a male and his female; two each of animals that are unclean, a male and his female" 7 of each animal, male and female only makes sense if you count the mail and female as one. Just as in Gen 2v24 it says " Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh." So, if we are counting pairs for the clean animals, it would seem odd not to count pairs for the unclean ones, hence four not two.

Oh , I also did a brisk, lunch time, 30 minute walk; but when I got home I found my Fitbit was dead, so I did't know if those steps were counted 😢, not that it really matters, but somehow now they are counted, I want them ALL counted!
Phew, just finished charging it and I'm at nearly 7,000 steps so, yay, they were counted. 😀

Well it's now the 4th of Jan! Good night all.

What can one do in 15 mins a day?

Well if you live a sedentary lifestyle a 15 minute brisk walk will improve your health.

If you want to learn a new language 15 minutes a day will make an incredible difference.

If you just want to be more aware of what is going on in the world, spend 15 minutes looking at World news.

If you want to make difference to your spiritual life, spend 15 minutes a day reading a Bible.

A few years ago, for my church, I split the Bible into slots of no more than 15 minutes, so we could read the whole Bible out loud. Initially we were just going to read non-stop for 15 minutes, and have the next person take over from wherever the last person finished, but then we weren't sure when we would finish.
So, I divided the reading by chapters, so that each person would read for no more than 15 minutes (except possibly the person who read Psalm 118!).Interestingly it turned out to require less than 365 slots, so in less than a year, for less than 15 minutes a day, you can read the whole Bible, from cover to cover. It only takes 355 sessions, and session 355 is just the very last chapter!

Having 10 'spare' days is really useful especially as today is Jan 2, and I haven't started yet!

Well if you are going to read with me, then let us begin with Genesis 1, 2 & 3.
