OK day 2
Yes I know it's the 3rd of Jan, but by the time I'd written day 1 it was the already the second of Jan!
So yesterday I read Genesis 1 to 3, today it's Genesis 4 to 7, and here's a handy link again.
Here's a link to Bible Gateway, where you can choose from over 150 translations, in many different languages, this link is for the New International Version and this for the King James Version.
I once added up all the ages, and Methuselah died in the year of the flood.
But the thing that surprises me most, and this might surprise you, is that it talks about clean and unclean animals, yet God doesn't appear to define clean and unclean until after the Hebrews leave the land of Egypt.
I've read that maybe it just wasn't recorded until then, but that Noah did know the difference. That seems really odd to me, especially as it is not until after the flood that God says mankind can eat meat. The clean, unclean thing is (primarily?) about what can be eaten, so what distinction would God have made for vegans?
It often seems as if people think Noah went out to get all the animals, but God didn't tell hem to get any, just 'take them' with him, God brought the animals to him. So Noah probably just wondered why he had 14 of some animals and only four of others. Yes four not two, as it says Gen 7v2 says "You shall take with you seven each of every clean animal, a male and his female; two each of animals that are unclean, a male and his female" 7 of each animal, male and female only makes sense if you count the mail and female as one. Just as in Gen 2v24 it says " Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh." So, if we are counting pairs for the clean animals, it would seem odd not to count pairs for the unclean ones, hence four not two.
Oh , I also did a brisk, lunch time, 30 minute walk; but when I got home I found my Fitbit was dead, so I did't know if those steps were counted 😢, not that it really matters, but somehow now they are counted, I want them ALL counted!
Phew, just finished charging it and I'm at nearly 7,000 steps so, yay, they were counted. 😀
Well it's now the 4th of Jan! Good night all.
